Up to 41 inches of new snow at Lake Tahoe!

One of the unique aspects of Lake Tahoe is that storms coming off the Pacific deliver big time, and storms are measured in feet, and not inches.
Mother Nature delivered over the weekend. A series of storms systems left the Lake Tahoe ski resorts with 15-41 inches of new snow (or 1 – 3.4 FEET), setting the resorts up nicely for the President’s Day holiday.

Powder Days Are Here Again - 2014 Style

Winter ain’t over yet! Tahoe skiers and snowboarders woke to a winter wonderland this morning, with the ski resorts reporting 6-16 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours, and it's still snowing! This is the first of three storms forecast to hit the Sierra through the weekend.  Can you say powder turns?

Huge Snowstorm for Lake Tahoe

Snow has arrived at Lake Tahoe – big time! Over the last week, a series of storms dumped 3-8 feet of snow on the ski resorts.

This is great news on so many levels.

First – powder day!

Second – can you say winter snow conditions?

Third – many ski resorts have been able to open more terrain, which means more choice for you.

If you’ve missed the excitement, check out the videos and images below.

Fun at Northstar's Ice Rink & village

Ongoing Events at Northstar

With the holidays winding down people are returning to the daily grind, but the fun never ends at Northstar! Every week (and nearly every day) there is something fun and new happening either on the mountain or in the Village, giving people every excuse to make it back up there as soon as possible. With the holiday crowds gone, the coming weeks might be the perfect time to take a midweek escape. Here are some of the many ongoing events happening at Northstar:

New Years Eve at Northstar California

Holiday Celebrations at Northstar

Holiday cheer fills the air in the Village at Northstar. Christmas music sets a playful tone as families skate the ice rink, take laps in a horse-drawn sleigh, admire the decorated tree and enjoy the California sunshine. It’s not often we get the chance to come together to celebrate time with family and ring in a brand new year.

New Snow at Sugar Bowl November 2013

Giving Thanks at Sugar Bowl

One of my favorite traditions of the Thanksgiving holiday festivities is when everyone at the table takes a couple quick minutes to tell everyone else at the table what it is they’re thankful for and why.

October powder turns at Sugar Bowl Resort

Winter Returns to Sugar Bowl Resort

One of the many things I love about Tahoe is just how fast one season ends as another begins. This past weekend we all enjoyed summer-like temps on Friday and Saturday, a blustery autumn day on Sunday, and then full-on winter come Monday. Mountain biking one day, powder skiing the next.
