It’s normal to assume that the ski resorts shut down once the winter is over. That’s not the case at Lake Tahoe. Northstar, Squaw Valley, Heavenly and Kirkwood turn into summer playgrounds, as trails once buried under the snow surface, providing ample opportunities for exploration and adventure.

Sad to admit it, but the winter season over. It's time to store the skis and snowboards, reflect on the season, and start counting down to next winter.
What were your favorite moments of the 2013/14 season? Typically any day on the slopes equals a terrific day in my book, but below are five moments that stand out. Did I miss yours? Let me know in the comments.

For many, spring brings relief after a cold, long, winter. For others, it’s a bittersweet time, signaling the eventual end of ski season. The sad news for snow addicts is that the first of the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts close in just a few short weeks. It’s ironic, as skiing and riding is terrific right now, thanks to last week’s dose of winter!
That said, if you’ve not yet made ski and snowboard vacation plans to Lake Tahoe, you still have time (though don’t delay!).
Hope to see you out there!

Old Man Winter decided to pay Lake Tahoe a visit last week, bringing with him nearly four feet of new snow! As a result, conditions at the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts are currently awesome. The good news is that he’s sticking around. More snow is in the forecast tonight, which means we’ll be starting off April with a powder day (or two). No joke!

Sure, it’s natural to associate a ski vacation with winter. I love snowstorms, cold toes and hot chocolate by a fire pit as much as the next person, but if you’ve never been to Lake Tahoe for some spring skiing and riding, you’re missing out. Trust me on this one. To help you out, I’ve compiled a few reasons why you need to put Tahoe on your radar this spring.

Entrepreneurs and mountain towns are not as oxymoronic as you might think. Maybe it's the scenery or something in the water, but there are a number of burgeoning businesses in the basin. We were intrigued by one such new company, Tahoelab, created by local riders Abe Greenspan and Lee Collins. We were curious what brought them here, and what prompted them to start a snowboard and splitboard company.

Winter at Lake Tahoe is truly special. Whether it’s the spectacular scenic beauty of North America’s largest alpine lake, the incredible skiing and snowboarding terrain, the perfect blend of big snowfall and West Coast sunshine, or the community of world-class athletes and individuals that live in the area, it provides wide-ranging opportunities and inspiration for those that call it home.

This is the time of year when we start thinking about our resolutions, and what we want to do to make this the best year ever. Since we’re all about snowsports, our list has a decidedly winter slant.
