Sunset over Lake Tahoe

2013/14 Lake Tahoe ski resort closing dates

For many, spring brings relief after a cold, long, winter. For others, it’s a bittersweet time, signaling the eventual end of ski season. The sad news for snow addicts is that the first of the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts close in just a few short weeks. It’s ironic, as skiing and riding is terrific right now, thanks to last week’s dose of winter!

That said, if you’ve not yet made ski and snowboard vacation plans to Lake Tahoe, you still have time (though don’t delay!).

Hope to see you out there!

March snowstorms dump nearly 4 feet of snow

Old Man Winter decided to pay Lake Tahoe a visit last week, bringing with him nearly four feet of new snow! As a result, conditions at the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts are currently awesome. The good news is that he’s sticking around. More snow is in the forecast tonight, which means we’ll be starting off April with a powder day (or two). No joke!

Sure, it’s natural to associate a ski vacation with winter. Ask a Local – TahoeLab

Entrepreneurs and mountain towns are not as oxymoronic as you might think.  Maybe it's the scenery or something in the water, but there are a number of burgeoning businesses in the basin.  We were intrigued by one such new company, Tahoelab, created by local riders Abe Greenspan and Lee Collins. We were curious what brought them here, and what prompted them to start a snowboard and splitboard company.

Tahoe’s Best On-Mountain Dining

Half the fun of a day of snowboarding or skiing is being able to enjoy a break midday with a great meal. Sure, we’ve had days where it’s been all about the bell to bell turns, with a cold energy bar or a smushed PB&J lunch on the chairlift. But there is something to be said for a leisurely lunch, especially after you’ve earned your calories with a few hours of leg burning descents.
