South Lake Tahoe Olympians

Celebrating Lake Tahoe’s Olympians

It’s not every destination that boasts as many Olympians or medalists as Lake Tahoe. And while we’re not ones to boast (ok, maybe a little), we’re very proud of all the home-grown athletes that went to Sochi.

So it comes as no surprise that we’re celebrating them with a slew of parties this month.

Ask a Local – Wayne Wong

Back before there was freeskiing, slopestyle or the terrain park, there was freestyle (aka ‘hot dog’) skiing. Wayne Wong is a name synonymous with this sport (he’s known as one of the Fathers of Freestyle Skiing), and who happens to call the Lake Tahoe area home. Suffice to say we were excited to talk with him in this edition of our Ask a Local Series.

Lake Tahoe athletes storm Winter X Games

When you think about the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts, it’s likely that the first thing that comes to mind is snow and terrain – and maybe the spectacular views. Did you know that the resorts also are the home to a ton of world class athletes? You may have seen some of them in ski and snowboard movies, in the Olympics, and yes, at the Winter X Games.

The Winter X Games were held in Aspen last week, and Lake Tahoe was well represented with skiers and snowboarders competing in, and winning, a number of events.
