Two Feet of Snow This Week

Dec 17th 2010

Lake Tahoe after Tuesday's snow storm

The Lake Tahoe resorts have seen an amazing start to the winter season with 10 feet of new snow in November alone. December is shaping up to be DEEPcember, as over 2 feet of snow fell earlier this week, and thanks to a series of major winter storms positioned to hit the region this weekend, there’s talk of up to 10 feet of new snow by Christmas!

This means that for the third year running, the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts will be in full operation in time for Christmas, with top-to-bottom skiing and riding on some of the deepest snow depths in the country.   With mid-winter conditions, including lots of powder snow (trust us, the skiing has been amazing!), the largest concentration of ski resorts in North America, along with some of the most affordable stay-and-ski packages in the country, Lake Tahoe isn’t just a place, it truly is the place to take your ski vacation. The fact that we’ll see more snow in a week than many destinations see in a season is just one more reason why we love Lake Tahoe, and why we’d love to see you here!

Destination travelers, take note. Not only is the Reno-Tahoe International Airport conveniently located less than an hour from the slopes, but many airlines are offering terrific fares to this airport, which has the notable achievement of having never experienced a closure due to snow. Given that snowfall totals in this part of the world are recorded in feet, this is no small feat! The airport has also added 17 new flights this year, bringing the total to 72 daily departures to 15 non-stop cities, with one-stop service to virtually anywhere you want to go.

So, what are you waiting for?
