It’s going to be a white Thanksgiving at the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts, thanks to a strong winter storm that blew in on Friday, leaving 6+ feet of fresh snow at the upper elevations. It’s still snowing, and the forecast is for up to another 2 feet to fall before Thanksgiving Day. Talk about a reason to give thanks!
This generous early season storm has left the ski resorts in great condition, and as a result, a number of resorts have announced earlier than planned openings. We’ve learned today that
Sierra-at-Tahoe opens tomorrow at noon (with discounted tickets whose proceeds will go to local sports teams),
Kirkwood will open on November 24, and
Alpine Meadows will be open for skiing and riding on November 26.
