After a record breaking early start to the season, Kirkwood has announced that the resort will remain open until May 1st for skiing & riding! The Timber Creek facilities along with the Tahoe Learning Center will remain open until April 24th. Kirkwood has truly lived up to its reputation for epic snowfall these last few weeks with back to back storm systems just hammering the resort. The resort is well on its way to having a record season with the snowfall total surpassing 700 inches on March 26th. The last time the resort hit the magic 700 inch mark was in winter 2004/05. With a 250+ inch base, skiers and riders are sure to enjoy quality conditions well into the spring time!

The resort announced the early launch of its Spring Pass on March 20th, as well as the launch of 2011/12 Passes at 2010/11 rates. Premium, 7Wood and 6Wood Passes boast no holiday blackout dates once again, and provide a host of other pass benefits including buddy tickets, passholder pricing and ticket deals at sister resorts. Early rates for next year are guaranteed until May 1st and all passes can be purchased in person at the resort, over the phone by calling 209.258.7277 or online.

In addition to some amazing April conditions, Kirkwood has some great spring events planned to finish out this season. Spring Jammin’ has been a fixture on the Kirkwood events calendar for 18 years now and this year’s event raises the bar! The legendary Kirkwood Banked Slalom will take place on Spring Jammin’ weekend after being postponed in March due to heavy snow, along with the Head2Head Series 3 race and dinner which benefits the Kirkwood Ski Team. Kirkwood will also host DJs and bands all weekend including live music by Strive Roots and Rich Filthy. The US Air Bag guys and Fall Line Kite Boarding will be around to do demos and of course the weekend will be topped off with the annual Pond Skimming Contest! If you’re a Passholder, make sure you head out for the annual Passholder Appreciation Party on April 17th.

With the planned mid-April closure of Hwy 50, Kirkwood is going to be the place to be for spring skiing & riding. Come and finish out the rest of this amazing season at Kirkwood!
