On February 9, Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe throws its annual ode to neon colors, stretch pants and rear entry ski boots. The Slide Back Retro party invites guests to help the resort relive this decade of decadence by throwing their post-millennium fashion sense out the door and dressing in their finest '80s (or anything retro) attire. Skiers (and snowboarders - even though there were very few back then) can sport day glow outfits or look "hip" in their gators and jeans. Others can make a fashion statement by showing up in their hot pink onesies or bun-hugger, neon stretch pants. If the skinny skis popular in that decade haven't gone the way of the garage sale, those can complete the costume. Anyone decked out in themed attire can compete in the “Fashion… or Fad” contest at noon.
Next up is Valentine’s Day, which falls on Mt. Rose’s Ladies Day Thursday this year. With a $29 Ladies Day lift ticket you can get one $29 guest ticket. Buy your Ladies Day ticket online through MtRose.com and present that at the resort to get one $29 guest ticket.
On February 16, celebrate the Year of the Snake with a little “snaking” down the slopes of your own. Enjoy the beginning of the Chinese New Year with food and drink specials at Mt. Rose and a Lion Dance behind the base lodge before noon. Continue the party at various Reno casinos Chinese New Year Celebrations as well.
Finally to round out the month, Mt. Rose is hosting Bobo’s Pink Chase Tahoe on February 28. What is this Chase? Step into your skis or snowboard for this adventurous day of instruction for advanced beginners to expert levels, ending in the Ultimate Skiing Flash Mob. This event raises funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and a local donation will be made to Reno’s own Pinocchio’s “Moms on the Run”. New this year, Pink Chase Tahoe is adding "co-ed” advanced/expert groups for the awesome guys out there who want to support the cause. Register online.
