Free ski and snowboard lessons at Homewood

Homewood free ski lesson

At Homewood, we have a passion for teaching skiing and snowboarding.

Whether it’s the first-timer who’s never strapped into a snowboard, the aspiring beginner who’s just breaking into parallel turns on skis, or the experienced 60-something who’s making the jump to new equipment and is looking to get the most out of it, our instructors simply love spreading the joy of skiing and riding to folks.

Which is why Homewood is excited to announce that guests will be able to take advantage of completely free intermediate/advanced ski and snowboard lessons this season – available Sunday – Friday during non-holiday periods on a first-come, first-served basis.

Due to the more advanced nature of these free lessons – guests must be capable of making parallel turn on intermediate terrain on skis or dynamically linking turns on intermediate terrain on snowboard – Homewood will staff these free lessons with some of the finest instructors available in the Tahoe region. Guests should meet at the top of the Old Homewood Express chairlift at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., and instruction will focus on techniques designed to help experienced skiers/riders get the most out of their equipment while staying in control in all conditions – from powder to trees to steeps to variable snow.

“We are very excited to be able to offer this free lesson program to our guests this season,” said Snowsports Director Bryan Schilling. “There is always something new to learn when it comes to skiing and snowboarding, and there is no better way to improve, at any level, than with a professional instructor providing guidance. Plus, our instructors know the mountain better than anyone, so it should be a great way to discover new runs and terrain that few others know about.”

Full details on Homewood’s free lesson program can be found at SkiHomewood.com/FreeLessons.

And for guests not quite at the level where they can take advantage of the free lesson programs, Homewood has implemented an entire series of Learn to Ski/Ride & Super Group beginner lesson packages designed to get new skiers and riders ready for intermediate terrain.

Terrain-based learning for beginners

In addition to the new lesson programs this season, Homewood is expanding our Smart Slopes™ sculpted beginner terrain. Homewood’s Smart Slopes™ concept incorporates man-made snow berms, gullies and other terrain features into its beginner slopes – features designed to ease the learning curve for first-time and novice skiers and riders. Available at Homewood’s Children’s Center and North Lodge Beginner Area, Smart Slopes™ terrain will make learning to ski or ride that much easier and more fun for guests this season.
