Labor Day Weekend is one of my favorite times of the year to spend at Heavenly. We get a chance to celebrate everything summer and it also means winter is just around the corner! The weather is looking phenomenal for the upcoming weekend, so make sure to get outside and take advantage of everything going on in the South Shore.
First up, we have the 26th Annual Heavenly Tent Sale. This event is always a yearly hit with huge savings on everything from skis and snowboards to apparel and accessories. Starting on Saturday, September 1 and continuing through Monday, September 3, Heavenly Sports sets up shop in the California Base parking lot and with gear experts on hand, this is one pre-season event not to miss.
Hopefully you’ve been staying in shape over the summer, but if you need a little extra motivation, come participate in Heavenly’s first ever Mountain Run. A 5.8 mile, 3,000 vertical-foot climb will be sure to kick your workout routine into gear. On September 2, participants will begin the race at the California Base, continue up Maggie’s and California Trail and finish at Tamarack Lodge. For more information and to register visit TahoeTrailRunning.com.
Make sure to take a scenic Gondola ride to experience the best views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras. Hop out at the Heavenly Mid-Station to soak in the views and snap a picture or two. Then head all the way to the top of the mountain for a scoop of locally made ice cream, summer tubing, a kid’s rock climbing and hiking trails. Pack a picnic or stop at Tamarack Lodge for a delicious variety of lunch options!
More events and activities in South Lake Tahoe over Labor Day weekend include the 20th Annual Lake Tahoe Sternwheel Race, the Fireworks Extravaganza and the Sample the Sierra Festival. For more information on any of the events in South Lake Tahoe visit our events calendar.
