“Summer on the Summit” returns to Sugar Bowl, offering two different week-long sessions of kids adventure summer camps with 5 distinct programs tailor-fit for ages 4-15, this July 21st through August 1st. The little ones (age 4-6) will enjoy the “Explore Nature” sessions, complete with entry-level hiking and rock climbing, supervised water play, arts & crafts, storytelling, games and yoga.
For the kids a little older (age 7-9), the “Adventures in Nature” will include mountain biking, whitewater rafting and science exploration. The “Mountain Adventure” sessions (for kids age 10-12) will include stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking, natural history, geology and Donner Summit history.
Just interested in mountain biking? There’s a session dedicate solely to that for kids 10-15. And the older ones (age 13-15) will enjoy the “Adventure, Leadership and Stewardship” sessions which teach valuable life skills such as wilderness survival, communication, problem solving and more, all incorporated into outdoor adventure activities.
New this season, an overnight sleep-away option is available (gaining much applause from parents) featuring comfortable accommodations at the Clair Tappaan Lodge. Peter Mayfield and his professional staff of counselors at the Gateway Mountain Center lead the sessions, providing top-notch level of instruction and guidance throughout.
Now in its fourth summer of operation, Sugar Bowl’s camps have proven to be so popular that spots are filling fast, and the resort has had to implement a book-by cutoff date of July 1, so don’t miss out and register today!
In addition to the sessions, Sugar Bowl is pleased to offer campers, their families, and Sugar Bowl Villagers special BBQ dinners at the scenic Lake Mary Cabin on 7/23 and 7/30. These BBQ's are included with the cost of camp for campers, and are available for Villagers and camper’s families for a small fee. And speaking of great dining at the Lake Mary Cabin, be sure to check out the Lake Mary Cabin Dinner Series this summer at Sugar Bowl, offering fine dining in a stunning setting, with a portion of each evening’s proceeds benefiting a different local non-profit organization.
Sugar Bowl’s kids adventure summer camps offer an incredible opportunity for kids to enjoy play-based learning in the majestic outdoors of Donner Summit, while making lifelong friends and memories.
